Strategic and innovation mentorship for SMEs working with big data in the South West. Contracted by the Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab, University of Exeter.
The Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab is a partnership of seven, world class Devon-based organisations, and their dedicated project team is a link into a wealth of academic and industrial expertise and data. All of the help they provide to local and regional SMEs is based around business growth, which they deliver in-house and through a constellation group of specialist mentors.
Sawsan is the Innovations Specialist Mentor for the Impact Lab. They refer SMEs to her for help with their innovation strategies. Innovation is a process for creating new products, markets, or a new business model. Innovation is also a problem solving tool, and can identify and suggest corrections for a bottleneck at any stage of a business. When looking at an innovation strategy through a jobs-to-be-done lens, it is clear that an effective strategy must correctly inform which job executer, job, and segment to target to achieve the most growth. Sometimes the strategy needs to be more nuanced than this, and we draw upon a whole toolkit of innovation techniques to suit the needs of each client.
